Re: We need your support to reduce flooding and protect water in our community
Dear Minister Phillips,
I urge you to support a valuable program that will help meet Ontario’s objectives for stormwater management, flood-risk reduction, climate adaptation, water sustainability, and water quality, including phosphorous reduction in the Great Lakes. RAIN Community Solutions – a program of Green Communities Canada and its non-profit member organizations – engages property owners in taking action to repair the urban water cycle by managing rain where it falls and reducing run-off.
RAIN received the water stewardship award in 2014 from the Council of the Federation. RAIN was supported in Kitchener-Waterloo with a highly successful grant under your Ministry’s Showcasing Water Innovation program. Additional ongoing support is required to replicate this success in communities throughout the province.
